What is Movie News After Dark? It’s the nightly movie news column that other movie news websites read for tomorrow’s news…

We begin this evening with what appears to be a very unhappy Bane from The Dark Knight Rises. It’s another promo image to follow last week’s release of Catwoman’s ass-tacular costume. My guess is that Warner Bros. has simply given up on the marketing of this one, as they seem to be just letting raw materials out. Then again, if you had to follow-up with the incredible marketing campaign behind The Dark Knight, you’d probably throw in the towel, too. Luck for them, everyone is already going to see TDKR. Just because.

Over at Pajiba, siterunner Dustin Rowles presents A Transparent Attempt to Explain the Economics Behind Running a Pop-Culture Website and… Well, you get the idea. It’s a great read for anyone who reads sites like ours, even if you’re not interested in the inside baseball of who is fighting with who on Twitter and which writers made which studios mad at Comic-Con. It’s some real talk about the real difficulties of keeping a website like the one you’re reading right now online and filled with mostly literate content. I can also confirm that it’s littered with truth.

Wired has an interesting exposé on Why the Halo Movie Failed to Launch, presenting facts behind why Microsoft tried to strong-arm Hollywood, and ultimately failed to get anything done. Who loses in that situation? The fans.

The AV Club presents a list of 14-plus short-lived film-to-TV adaptations, including the incredibly sad Revenge of the Nerds TV show.

The poster for the Timur Bekmambetov/Tim Burton historical pop-culture mash-up movie Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter has arrived, and it features our 16th President walking atop a burning train, carrying an axe. Fascinating.

Movies.com’s Peter Hall gives you An Early Look at Zero Charisma, a comedy about D&D, owning geek culture and the greatest game master in the world. It’s also from some of the folks behind Best Worst Movie, a film that many of you enjoyed. And it stars Sam Eidson, who is a really strange human being.

Jezebel wants you to consider all the reasons Why We Need to Keep Talking About the White Girls on Girls, including a lynchpin quote from one of Girls‘ staff writers about the movie Precious. Zing!

The folks at TimeOut London have delivered their list of the 100 best horror films of all-time. And as our own Robert Fure pointed out on Twitter, they get points for allowing us to view the list on less than 100 pages.

CinemaBlend’s Katey Rich explains Why Magic Mike Is Now My Most Anticipated Summer Movie, fully justifying her desire to see Channing Tatum build custom coffee tables in nothing but a banana hammock. It’s hard not to see her point. Or his.

The infinite display of talent that is Joanna Robinson at Pajiba continues her listology dominance this week with 10 Now Beloved Actors We Wrote Off Too Soon, including the guy who once wore his pants too low and now talks to animals. The one she may have missed: Joshua Jackson.

The Playlist, with their continuing series filled with very odd years, presents 5 Things You May Not Know About Superman II, 31 Years After It Hit Theaters. If we keep going with lists like this, the internet is going to implode. We all know that, right?

Pajiba (again!) delivers a juicy list of 5 Modern Movies That Show What the Rest of the World Really Thinks of America. Hint: we’re a bunch of assholes, you guys.

Big finish tonight! Instead of one final video, you are about to watch two. Or one, if you decide that’s enough for you. The are both from a series called Trailer Cats, which is exactly what you might think it is. The two most entertaining trailers in this series, so far as I can tell, are the one’s for Despicable Me 2 (starring adorable kitten minions) and The Dark Knight Rises, because that Tom Hardy Bane cat is so goddamn creepy.
