What is Movie News After Dark? Tonight it’s all about learning. We’ll show you the world, pretty babes. Things like destination posters for the whole of Westeros, what can be learned from Batman, Veronica Mars, Morgan Spurlock’s mustache, The Hunger Games, the Marvel Cinematic Timeline, Felicia Day dancing in an elevator, Damon Lindelof, Kickstarter, James Cameron’s obsession with blue people and of course, the world of men’s grooming. It’s going to be a wet and wild ride for a Monday, friends.
We begin this evening with something Game of Thrones related. Because Game of Thrones – be it books or show — is slowly taking over the life of yours truly. And that’s just fine with me. Artist Nicholas Hyde has begun selling very cool Game of Thrones destination posters, found via The Mary Sue. At one time there was one for The Wall, Winterfell and King’s Landing alongside the currently listed posters for The Eyrie and Pyke. It’s hard to say whether or not the others have sold out (and even harder to say whether or not I had anything to do with that. Above, you will see Winterfell. Below the jump, I’ve got The Wall and King’s Landing rounded up. Hopefully Mr. Hyde will print more soon.
Kicking off tonight’s theme of learning, geek girl extraordinaire Zoë Gulliksen (aka @bookishbelle) writes about what she’s learned from The Dark Knight Rises trailer. It made me laugh. You’ll do the same.
Greenwich Time has published a litter sent to their editors by an astute seventh grader who writes about all the lessons learned from The Hunger Games, including the fact that kids don’t need to just “stand around and watch bad things happen.” It’s inspiring.
Did you like The Avengers, even though you’re not a giant nerd like everyone else? Well, there’s still time. In their latest Gateways to Geekery column (one of my favorite on the entire internet), AV Club tells you where to start reading Avengers comics. The Ultimates is so good, you guys.
Patrick Casey Bennett at Comic Book Movie has created this very in-depth Marvel Cinematic Universe Ttimeline Inforgraphic. It comes with instructions, found via the link. Here’s a piece of it, as an example:
Michael Hinman at Airlock Alpha writes about how the Kickstarter model makes him nervous sometimes, based on the fact that many consider it investing in a film. And that’s not really what it is. That said, we did find out last week that it can be used to earn insane favors from Bret Easton Ellis.
Movies.com’s Peter Hall has a very informative interview with the guys behind Mondo, that poster website that everyone on your Twitter feed is angry about at least once every few weeks. Their posters are hard to get. It even had my own generally cool head aflame over a Captain America print. The interview provides some valuable insight for collectors and some general insight for those who still don’t understand what the hell all the fuss is about.
James Cameron is only making Avatar movies now. He said as much in an interview at the Beijing International Film Festival: “I’m not interested in developing anything. I’m in the “Avatar” business. Period. That’s it. I’m making “Avatar 2,” “Avatar 3,” maybe “Avatar 4,” and I’m not going to produce other people’s movies for them. I’m not interested in taking scripts. And that all sounds I suppose a little bit restricted, but the point is I think within the “Avatar” landscape I can say everything I need to say that I think needs to be said, in terms of the state of the world and what I think we need to be doing about it.”
Supernatural has been renewed for an eighth season. If they keep doing things like convincing Felicia Day to do an adorable dance in an elevator, then I’m okay with that show sticking around for another… three million seasons.
Wired’s science blog has unleashed The Physics of The Hulk’s Jump, explaining why the big guy can leap half of a tall building in a single bound. Personally, I had never even considered that this wasn’t possible in real life. I’ve never met a giant green rage monster that couldn’t scale a 30 story building in a few hops.

We close tonight with a trailer for a movie after my own heart. It’s called Mansome.
