What is Movie News After Dark? It’s a hunter of the best stories of the day. Most days. Pretty much every week. It works 24/7 to give you one article per night. Because sleep is for the week. And whatnot.
We begin this evening with a new image from Breaking Bad and its upcoming season five premiere, a shot of a particular character who is likely to be the most interesting story. At least, early on in the season. How will everyone’s favorite henchman Mike (Jonathan Banks) react to the events that concluded season four? This new image gives us a bit of a preview.

2. Guinness recognizes the longest single-shot movie – It’s a film called 21 Brothers, from Canada. Somewhere Alfonso Cuaron is plotting his response.

5. Is Mystery Science Theater 3000 film criticism? – As always, Matt Singer is asking a unique and interesting line of questions. The question of whether tongue-and-cheek commentary tracks can be considered criticism is a tough one. There’s certainly some criticism in there, but that doesn’t seem to be the goal.
6. How to make a movie without robots or spaceships – According to Alex Kurtzman, a guy who is co-behind a great many movies about robots or spaceships, talking to the astute team at Grantland.
7. Jack Bender and Max Brooks team-up – The man who directed a great deal of Lost and the author behind World War Z are in talks to work together on a project called Devolution, which is said to have a pedigree that is “all genre.” That’s all we know so far, but it’s enough to be interesting.
8. Why can’t this summer’s movie villains come up with a good plan? – Vulture’s Kyle Buchanan finds all the weaknesses in the plots of this summer’s bad guys, gals and otherwise humanoid beings.
9. Scorsese goes digital – According to those in the know, Martin Scorsese has forsaken the medium of film and decided to keep shooting in digital, even though — unlike Hugo – The Wolf of Wall Street will not be in 3D.
10. The Sound of Brave – The folks at The Soundworks Collection have taken their champion behind the scenes skills to Pixar to talk about the aural aspects of Emeryville’s latest gem, Brave.
