Fantastic Fest 2012 will open with Tim Burton’s Frankenweenie and close with the new Red Dawn, but as the first two line-up announcements have shown, it’s the genre meat in the middle that will satisfy the most. The slate this year is pure insanity (which will be topped off by piping hot deer blood shots at the closing night North Korean invasion party), and this last puzzle piece raises excitement so high, that I’ll have to add an extra hour of crying to my schedule while not attending.
Our FSR team will be crushing every single screening though, and amidst some buzz-worthy original horror, they’ll also get new New Cronenberg in the form of Antiviral, new work from Ernesto Diaz Espinosa, and a metric ton of premieres.
Either revel in ecstasy if you’re attending or rend your garments in despair if you’re not. Here’s the last list of featured films and filmmaker appearances:

YES. GET READY.
One thought here: with all the movies openly anticipated, it leaves a lot of question marks about what the secret screenings will be. Since that’s a major topic of conversation in the film festival lines, I’ll be guessing what movies they might be in an upcoming piece. Get ready.
