While today certainly feels like a slow news day, the Internet has provided a ton of great links to share with you all. I’ve felt compelled to keep my links strictly film related over the past couple of days, but I think you’ll appreciate some of the geeky, non-film stuff today.
In case you’re looking for something to celebrate on hump-day this week, the MPAA created the NC-17 rating on this day in 1990. Philip Kaufman’s Henry & June was the first to receive the new rating, and ever since he recently appeared in the Criterion closet, rumors have begun circulating that the film might get into The Collection one day.
Tomorrow, if you’re lucky, you’ll be able to pick up some new prints from Mondo. Earlier today they sent out news that the Looper prints by Martin Ansin, a Dredd 3D print by Jock, and a Room 237 print by Aled Lewis would go on sale at a random time on Thursday, September 27th. You’ll want to follow Mondo on Twitter to know when the prints go live on the store.

The folks at Comic Book Movie uncovered new artwork for an upcoming Dark Knight Trilogy Blu-ray box set in the UK, which might give us an idea of what the US release will look like.
If you’re looking to fill your disc shelves with more comic book related discs, there are some pretty great deals on Amazon today. The Avengers, Thor, and Captain America 3D Blu-rays are all $19.99 each, and the Iron Man Blu-rays are under $10.
According to the Digital Bits, Target will have an exclusive Ultimate Edition Blu-ray box set collecting Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Parts 1 And 2.

I hate realism. In America especially, we’re very narrow-minded as far as animation goes. There is only one kind of movie, and that’s that big, family-oriented, four-quadrant, please-everyone kind of film. But if I wanted realism, I’d watch a live-action movie. Those lines are being blurred every day. When I go to see a movie, especially an animated movie, I’m going to escape. The more realistic it is, the less believable it is.

This November, the Criterion Collection is re-releasing Akira Kurosawa’s Rashomon on DVD and Blu-ray. They’re using Kent Williams painting for the new cover art, and yesterday Williams tweeted out a shot of a new drawing that he’s working on for the release:
Over on Deja View, Andreas Deja has posted several pre-production sketches from Disney’s Cinderella (they presume that the sketches are by Ken O’Connor). The Blu-ray hits shelves on October 2nd.
And finally, Criterion has posted their 3 Reasons video for Wong Kar-Wai’s In The Mood For Love, which they’re re-releasing on Blu-ray on October 2nd.
