Han Solo

What is Casting Couch? It’s a casting news column that’s been talking way more about a movie based on a racing video game than it imagined it would be. Read on for more information.

It’s bound to get pretty annoying following every rumor that pops up about the new Star Wars movie between now and 2015. But, let’s face it, when comments start getting thrown around about Harrison Ford playing Han Solo again, even vague rumors start to get pretty interesting. So, when Inside Movies announced that they have sources claiming that Ford has reversed his famously grumpy position on Star Wars being lame, and that he, Mark Hamill, and Carrie Fisher are now all “upbeat” about more movies getting made, geeks everywhere instantly started salivating like Pavlov’s dogs. Let’s try to not let this Star Wars thing get out of hand—but Harrison Ford might play Han Solo again, y’all!

Imogen Poots

Imogen Poots

Imogen Poots is on fire this month. It was just a few days ago that news came out she was joining Aaron Paul in the Need For Speed movie, and now Deadline Hollywood has a report that she’s also going to be starring opposite Zac Efron in a romantic comedy called Are We Officially Dating?Written and directed by Tom Gormican, Are We Officially Dating? is reportedly about three male friends who make a pact to stay single, just as soon as each of them begins to fall in love. Which, you know, is kind of hard not to do when girls that look like Imogen Poots start coming around. Bad timing.

Dominic Cooper

Dominic Cooper

Speaking of that Need For Speed movie… Variety is reporting that it may be close to landing another name. According to the trade, Captain America actor Dominic Cooper is currently in negotiations to join the video game adaptation as an ex-NASCAR driver who uses his connections with wealthy tycoons to rebuild and modify supercars. This isn’t likely to sit well with Aaron Paul’s character, who reportedly also modifies expensive cars to make them go faster. Hey, wait a second, you don’t think these guys are going to end up racing, do you?

Viola Davis

Viola Davis

Sure, Viola Davis has been doing strong work for quite a few years now, but ever since her turn in 2011’s The Help, it seems like she’s rocketed to the top of everyone’s list of favorite actresses. Rejoice, then, at The Wrap’s report that your new favorite actress has been cast in another project. From Incendies director Denis Villeneuvre, Prisoners is a movie about a small-town carpenter who takes the law into his own hands after his daughter gets kidnapped. It stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Hugh Jackman, Paul Dano, Melissa Leo, and now, Viola Davis. See? You wanted to argue with me that Melissa Leo was your new favorite actress, but she’s in this too. Everybody wins!

Johnny Nguyen

Johnny Nguyen

Johnny Nguyen has been keeping himself pretty busy lately doing stunt work for high profile Hollywood blockbusters like Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man movies, X-Men: First Class, and Iron Man 3, but the thing he’s done that’s gotten him the most attention is star in his brother Truc’s 2007 action film The Rebel. Bringing this up is relevant, because Twitch is reporting that he’s likely to get another chance to impress, as brothers Johnny and Truc are set to team up once again, this time for a movie called Chinatown that promises to be a multi-threaded gangster epic with more kicking and punching than your martial-arts obsessed ass can handle.

Jared Leto

Jared Leto

Whether you know him as Jordan Catalano from that ’90s television drama My So-Called Life or as the blonde guy who got his face smashed in by Edward Norton in Fight Club, be thankful that you know Jared Leto for his acting career and not for his horrible music career with his irritating band 30 Seconds to Mars. And be thankful that it looks like he’s making a return to acting. Variety reports that Leto is the latest name to join that AIDS drama that Matthew McConaughey got all skinny for, Dallas Buyers Club. Leto will be playing another AIDS patient who McConaughey’s character meets while in the hospital, thus making this a movie about the handsomest AIDS patients who have ever lived.
