Gary Oldman and Michael K Williams

What is Movie News After Dark? Tonight, it’s beside itself…

We begin this evening with a photo of Gary Oldman and Michael K. Williams on the set of Robocop, in which they both will undoubtedly bring their usual level of quality. It’s unrivaled, the sort of awesome that exists in this one still image. The only thing that could possibly be better would be some sort of random, inexplicable Peter Weller photobomb. But lets just leave that up to the photoshoppers, shall we?

The Good, The Bad and the Bogus – Our good friend Brian Salisbury takes to the pages of Movies.com to bring you a list of great (and not-so-great) movie hitmen in honor of the Brad Pitt film Killing Them Softly. It’s worth all the clicks it will take to get to the end of the list, trust me.

Sherlock me? Sherlock you. – According to new reports, the third series (“season”) of the hit BBC show Sherlock will not begin production until late 2013, meaning that we won’t get to know what happens next until sometime in 2014. By then we’ll all be old and won’t care. Oh wait, this is the one that’s delayed because Benedict Cumberbatch has to play a badass Star Trek villain and Martin Freeman is journeying in The Hobbit trilogy while Steven Moffat continues his epic run as the man behind Doctor Who. That’s actually sort of worth the wait.

Supercomputer, Meet Twilight Mania! – According to an in-depth study of the tweets about Twilight that were made on opening weekend by IBM’s Jeopardy winning supercomputer, much of the negative sentiment expressed by fans was indicative of the ”audiences’ emotional reaction to the ‘tear-jerking’ moments in the movie.” So basically, this is the dumbest story… Lets go with ever. Can’t we put this computer to better use? How about solving the economic crisis? Or calculating a plan to end tensions in the Middle East?

Just Two Dudes Fighting in a Sewer – Earlier this week approximately 7,534 photos were released by WB that depicted the shooting of the 10 minute sewer fight scene from The Dark Knight Rises. After inspecting them all, it’s dawned on me that this film is truly spectacular when broken down to individual frames. In motion, not so much. Speaking of motion, here is the scene in question (still one of the film’s best moments) and a behind the scenes featurette about that traitor, Catwoman:

Losing it at the Movies – The Verge has put together an incredible, massive green feature about one of our favorite friends and colleagues, Film Crit Hulk, further exploring what has become a wonderful phenomenon in film criticism delivered with the power of all-caps. The entire feature, from its presentation to its subject, oozes cool.

An App of Ice and Fire - Are you trying to tackle the Game of Thrones book series in an attempt to quell your despair over the lack of HBO Sunday night event-watching? You’re not alone. And as you get into “A Song of Ice and Fire,” you may realize that there’s more to this world than just a few characters. Which is why this new app, A World of Ice and Fire, could prove helpful. It’s the official companion app to the books, complete with a warning of “Adult Material” from the iTunes store.

Don’t Worry About Her – Like most Americans, we don’t talk about pornography half as much as we think about pornography. Which is why studies like a recent one from the Journal of Sex Research are important. According to their latest findings, adult film stars have higher self-esteem than women who do not have sex on camera for money. I’m not saying that there’s anything to this study. What I am saying is that I’m a single guy with a camera, some website management skills and a desire to help. Ladies…
