There’s only 15 days left before Christmas, but don’t worry, there are plenty of DVD and Blu-ray deals for those of you who still need presents for the movie lovers in your life!
The Criterion Collection
While some titles like Rushmore and Videodrome have gone back up, Amazon’s ridiculous deals on Criterion Collection titles mostly continue, much to the chagrin of Criterion collectors everywhere, or at least their wallets. Recent releases like Rosemary’s Baby and The Game can still be had for 55% off or $17.99 in US dollars. The biggest savings can still be had on the bigger box sets with $49.99 MSRPs, like Che, Carlos, and Seven Samurai which can be had for $20.99 apiece.
Best Buy
Don’t count out the big box retailer just yet. While Amazon’s deals are often better, Best Buy still has the edge with some box sets that make movie lovers drool. Stick with Best Buy for the best price on the Bond box set, the Star Wars Complete Saga and the Ocean’s Trilogy on Blu-ray.
Olive Films
Chances are you may not have heard of Olive Films. They’re a relatively new outfit putting out some classic but overlooked films on Blu-ray. While the MSRP of $29.95 may seem a bit pricey, head over to importcds.com where most Olive Films releases are available for $14.43 or 52% off. My favorites are the 1956 Invasion of the Body Snatchers, the Gary Cooper classic High Noon and the crazy 80s horror flick The Boogens.
