What is Movie News After Dark? It’s a movie news column that cares.

Bring Me Your Katniss! – We begin this evening with one of a few new images from The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, the holiday-releasing sequel to that other movie about a girl with a bow, an arrow and a will to live. The above image is our first look at Philip Seymour Hoffman as Plutarch Heavensbee. Seriously, these names…

SHIELD for Kids – According to new information from the producers at the Television Critics Association press tour this week, the S.H.I.E.L.D. television series is on a very fast track at ABC. It will also be family-friendly. They sound excited. In other news, The Avengers cleared $1.5 billion in worldwide box office. I wonder if that has something to do with the excitement about its spin-off TV show.

Kathryn Bigelow’s Oscar snub is a moral outrage – All because of the torture thing. Or something like that, writes Scott Mendelson. He’s got a point, though. To not nominate Bigelow is a real black mark on the Academy’s voting record. Then again, we’re talking about a rap sheet that has enough black marks to be confused with redacted CIA documents. So there’s that.

A Pop Culturist’s Guide to Time Travel – Rob Payne takes to Pajiba to explain the laws, rules, complications, examples, constructs, confusions and fun of time travel as seen through the lens of popular culture properties. It’s too much fun.

Tom Hooper and the Art of Cinematic Affectation – The latest battle of Film Crit Hulk has to do with the way our movies look. In his sights this time around is Les Miserables. He uses big words and tall letters and once again delivers. Read it.

The Razzies are total shit for people who hate movies – Yes, another link from Badass Digest. They did well this week. Someone get them a cookie. In this instance, Devin Faraci rips on The Razzies. He gets at something that’s essentially wrong with factions of movie fan culture. I’ll let you figure out what that is for yourself.

Django Maps – Courtesy of Wired, there are Google Maps locations where you can see some of the locations used in Django Unchained. There are also many of these locations that you can visit. It’s a lovely feature for those of you who miss the good ole days of plantations.

We don’t need roads – A new Back to the Future poster from artist LifeVersa. I want this on a steel canvas.

Honest Inception – An honest trailer for Christopher Nolan’s Inception. That pretty much sums it up.
