What is Casting Couch? It’s the casting column that’s basically been subsisting on news coming out of Robert Rodriguez’s Sin City sequel in recent days. Today he adds two more actors to his ensemble.

The big news is that Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, after having already shot some of its scenes, has finally found an actress to play the character of Ava Lord, who serves as the film’s titular dame. Dimension Films announced [via ComingSoon] that the powers that be have decided to go with Eva Green. The Ava Lord character is described by Frank Miller as being “every man’s most glorious dreams come true, she’s also every man’s darkest nightmares,” and both Miller and Rodriguez agree that Green is the actress who can best, “embody the multifaceted characteristics of this femme fatale.” That’s either a big compliment, or they might have just called her a bitch.

The A Dame to Kill For news doesn’t stop there, though. There’s also a report out of Deadline that the film has also picked up Julia Garner, a promising and delightfully curly-haired young actress who has so far appeared in things like Martha Marcy May Marlene and The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Unlike Green, who gets to be the dangerous and mysterious title character, Garner is going to be playing a stripper. Hey, everyone has to start somewhere. Look at how much playing a stripper in the original Sin City did for Jessica Alba. Oh, wait…

Steve Carell

Steve Carell

Tina Fey and Steve Carell are two of the funniest actors in the game, so put them both together as a duo and you’d probably end up making the funniest movie of all time, right? Well, that wasn’t really the case for the first movie they worked together on, Date Night, but that one was directed by the guy who did the Night at the Museum movies, so probably we should give them another chance. Which is something they might be getting. After the SAG awards, Fey said in the press room [via Bleeding Cool] that she would be, “…hopefully shooting a movie called Mail Order Groom in the summer with Steve Carell…” This is a project that’s been in the works for a while, so hopefully they’ve put together a dynamite script by now.

Tim Blake Nelson

Tim Blake Nelson

If you’ve seen fine films like Lincoln, O Brother Where Art Thou?, or Heavyweights, then chances are you’re familiar with what an awesome actor Tim Blake Nelson is. Seriously, every time this guy shows up on screen you know that the thing you’re watching is about to start getting better. Great news, then, that he’s just booked back to back projects. THR is reporting that he’s not only signed on to play Charles Bukowski’s abusive father in James Franco’s upcoming biopic, Bukowski, but he’s also joined the cast of The Homesman, which is a period drama that’s being directed by Tommy Lee Jones. You see? He’s being cast in movies that are being directed by other actors. That’s how you know he’s got the skills. Or, possibly, that he’s just fun to hang out with on set.
