What is Casting Couch? It’s the casting news roundup that has news about what the lovely Marion Cotillard is going to be lovelying up with her lovely self next.
It seems like Bryan Singer’s plan for promoting his upcoming X-Men sequel, X-Men: Days of Future Past, is to leak a little bit of news about it on his Twitter account every day between now and when it actually gets released. The latest bone he’s throwing us is that Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage has joined his rapidly-expanding cast. What role Dinklage will be playing Singer hasn’t yet revealed, which, of course, has sent the entire Internet scrambling to see how many Marvel characters they can name that might even slightly resemble a dwarf. From obscure Canadian heroes to Captain America villains, they’ve covered them all, but nobody has yet to predict anything that makes any sense. Here’s an interesting prediction to throw out there: maybe he’s just going to play some dude? Variety, however, seems to think he’s playing the villain.

Terence Stamp
Every day we’re getting closer and closer to actually having an Anchorman sequel. Due to early promos being produced, we know that the core of newsmen from the first film are all coming back, but seeing as the film is scheduled to start shooting in spring, who’s going to be playing the other roles? Aint It Cool News has a report coming out of a Terence Stamp Q&A that suggests we might soon be finding out. When asked what he’s going to be doing next, the veteran actor responded that he had been approached to play a Rupert Murdoch-type character in the new Will Ferrell movie. Combine this with the recent news that Kristen Wiig will be joining the film as a love interest for Steve Carell’s character, and it looks like work on this thing is starting to gear up. Exciting, no?

Steve Carell
Speaking of Steve Carell, Deadline has word that he’s been attached to an “FBI wedding comedy” that Universal has just hired David Flebotte to do a rewrite on. What exactly is an FBI wedding comedy? The trade explains that it’s apparently something in the ballpark of a cross between Stakeout and My Best Friend’s Wedding, which, you know, clears up absolutely nothing, because putting all of those words together is nonsense. Hopefully this Flebotte guy is funny, but most of his writing credits have come from being part of a writer’s room on television shows, so who can really predict? We’re pulling for you, Mr. Carell.

Boyd Holbrook
Over the past couple days we’ve been getting casting updates about Liam Neeson’s upcoming detective movie, A Walk Among the Tombstones. First we learned that Downton Abbey’s Dan Stevens had joined the cast, and then they picked up Luther’s Ruth Wilson. Before you start thinking this is a film with a British invasion subplot though, Variety has new news that the latest name to join the film is Kentucky-born actor Boyd Holbrook. He’s an up-and-comer who you’ve already seen in things like Milk and that Hatfields & McCoys miniseries, and who will soon be appearing in Twilight scribe Stephenie Meyers’ new joint, The Host. This means he might be something of a star by the time we see Neeson beating his face in and putting a bullet in his chest.

Marion Cotillard
Variety also has word that French angel Marion Cotillard is in negotiations to star in director Benoît Jacquot’s (Farewell, My Queen) next film, which is set to be an adaptation of the Octave Mirbeau novel, “The Diary of a Chambermaid.” First published back in 1900, “The Diary of a Chambermaid” was something of a scandal at the time, because it told its story from the perspective of the serving class and painted their employers as being twisted jerks barely above the level of slave owners. Mirbeau’s story has already been brought to the big screen several times, by names as notable as Jean Renoir and Luis Buñuel, so Jacquot’s got some big shoes to fill here. If he can officially sign Cotillard for the lead, then that should get him ahead of the game. She’s just so wonderful.
