What is Movie News After Dark? Like The Wire creator David Simon, it doesn’t think you should worship it. Except that it doesn’t think you’re a dummy for liking it. That actually makes you quite smart.
We begin this evening with a look at Jemaine Clement and Nicole Sherzinger in Men in Black III. The formerly flying conchord and the pussycat doll will be the film’s duo of baddies, both looking very much as the higher powers intended for them: one is creepy, the other is hot.
Vulture explains why David Simon is the ultimate hipster, including why he thinks we’re all dumb for worshiping The Wire. I don’t care what he thinks, that show is incredible.
Movies.com’s Monika Bartyzel explores The Legacy of Annie Hall in her latest Girls on Film column, taking an in-depth look at the movie that would beat out Star Wars for the Best Picture Oscar.
Bleeding Cool got a chance to talk with Brave director Mark Andrews recently about all of the Pixar traditions — from the Pizza Planet truck to John Ratzenberger and A113 — and whether or not the easter eggs would make it into Brave, which is set in the past in Ireland. According to the director, everything is in there. And Ratzenberger’s Scottish accent isn’t half bad.

Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner is looking to take a quick detour into the world of movies with a buddy road movie called You Are Here, a project he’s apparently been wanting to do for years. Right now he’s got the likes of Owen Wilson and Zach Galifianakis set to star as “two friends traveling back home to collect a family inheritance when one’s father dies.” Who knows how this may turn out.
The inimitable Joanna Robinson at Pajiba presents us with 10 TV Characters Who Have Walked Away With Someone Else’s Show, proving once again that her taste is above reproach. Especially when she’s tossing around the name of one Dr. Walter Bishop from Fringe or Justified‘s Boyd Crowder. It’s a great list, that ends well, if you ask me.
We close tonight with a bumper from the 2012 SXSW film festival by Joe Nicolosi, in which a man comes to Austin as a man of his own city and is quickly assimilated into the local culture. This happens to everyone, mind you.
