What is Movie News After Dark? It’s a nightly movie-related link dump written by a guy who is having all kinds of trouble typing at the moment. Look out, all you armchair copyeditors. This one might get a little wld.

We begin tonight with the story of the afternoon: Simpsons creator Matt Groening has revealed that Springfield, Oregon is the basis behind the Springfield where Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie cause trouble. In response, the folks at Gizmodo have used Google Earth to show us What The Simpsons’ Springfield Looks Like in Real Life. The people aren’t yellow, as it turns out.

I approve of everything The Women of Geekdom 2013 Calendar stands for. You should donate to their Kickstarter campaign.

Junkfood Cinemaphile Brian Salisbury has a piece of more straightforward journalistic work over at Hollywood.com, profiling what Joss Whedon said about Cabin in the Woods at a recent SXSW roundtable interview. There’s some good stuff in there.

Looking to get better movie recommendations? CNET is now recommending you use FlickChart for that. We’re so glad they’ve caught up to the rest of us.

Because IndieWire is now covering television, their Peter Labuza delivers 5 Ways Dexter Can Learn from Justified. Way #6: be more awesome. Also, there’s no show on television with better villains.

/Film’s Angie Han wants to know if Mattel’s Katniss Barbie does the Hunger Games heroine justice. Take a look and decide for yourself:

The lovely and talented Joanna Robinson at Pajiba writes of 8 Shows That Never Should Have Left High School in response to Glee returning cast members that have recently graduated from William McKinley High School. Little does she know that most colleges in Ohio are basically high schools with older students. Take it from me. I went to one of those. Also, sad face for Boy Meets World.

Filled with supreme confidence after working with Trent Reznor on The Social Network and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, co-composer Atticus Ross will go it alone for 47 Ronin, teaming up with director Carl Erik Rinsch and star Keanu Reeves for the “3D epic.”

Movies.com critic Scott Weinberg lists Six Remakes to Look “Forward” To, including a Robocop movie true nerds should be drooling over, as Jose Padilha is an absolute directorial badass.

Geek Sugar presents 4 Details to Look Forward to in Pixar’s Brave. Including, “Over 111,000 individual curls were hand-drawn for Merida’s mane, which was then digitally rendered as 1.8 million strands. Pixar then had to create a physics simulator to mathematically control how the waves move in the wind and exist within gravity.” That’s what it took to put together the main character’s goddamn hair.

“AMC is launching The Pitch this weekend, a docu-style reality show about advertising clearly inspired by the success of Mad Men. But why stop there?” Vulture presents Ways AMC Can Turn All Its Dramas Into Reality Shows. One about meth cooking? Sure, that’s obvious. A show about civil war reenactors, a la Hell on Wheels? I’d watch that.

In honor of it getting picked up for a third season, here’s How Game of Thrones Season 1 Should Have Ended, courtesy of the folks at How It Should Have Ended:
