What is Movie News After Dark? It’s the sun, the moon and the stars. Wait, I thought there’d be stars…

We begin this evening with a blurry, somewhat comprehensible image of Spock (Zachary Quinto) falling in front of a green screen on the set of Star Trek 2. According to Screen Rant’s theory — and a spy report — this could very well be Spock falling into a Volcano on a “jungle planet” as part of a big CGI set piece. I’m for it.

If this report from Deadline is to be believed, Dreamworks is close to picking up a movie version of Need for Speed, the popular video game about driving around the streets of the world’s most beautiful cities. There’s really no narrative to the game. It plays out a lot like a video game version of 2 Fast 2 Furious. So I guess you could say they made that movie already.

io9 presents The Best Argument for Keeping Fringe on the Air. I approve of every single word, as Fringe is an excellent show that should be allowed to run its narrative course.

In today’s extremely spoilerific link of the day, Devin from BAD has revealed The White Board from Cabin in the Woods. Do not click that link unless you’ve seen the movie.

Speaking of Cabin spoilers, Pete Hall over at Movies.com has 8 Unanswered Questions We Had After Watching The Cabin in the Woods, all of which are very reasonable. Especially the one about the blood. I wondered that myself.

A bunch of film critics over at CriticWire give examples of Film Critics with talent deserving of wider recognition. Basically a list of underrated voices in the film world, that includes Vince Mancini from FilmDrunk, who I’ve always contested is appropriately rated. Also, both Kate Erbland and Don Simpson made the list. Hey, I know those kids. They write for us.

Disney has released the first poster for Wreck-It Ralph, the rampage-like video game inspired story about a guy who is tired of playing the villain and must cross over into other arcade games to prove himself a hero.

FilmBuffOnline’s Rich Drees explains Where The Catholic League Gets It Wrong About The Three Stooges. He fails to mention my favorite argument: that anyone who lashes out against the (mostly) natural female form is a moron. We’re fighting wars over oil, people. Boobs are okay.

Collider’s Steve Weintraub has some details about the Muppets sequel to be, including the fact that it will be a comedy caper, will include new Muppets, may include a Jason Segel cameo, could come out in Summer 2013 and there are 13 pages to the script so far. Also, Kermit’s go-to Karaoke song is Heart’s “Barracuda.”

Courtesy of Wired, this barrel organ made of 20,000 Lego bricks plays the Star Wars theme.

Joss Whedon reveals the film that changed his life, and ultimately gave him his fascination with space ships.

IndieWire’s Alison Wilmore explores The Good Side of Bad Sex in Girls, the latest joint from Lena Dunham. I’d really like to like that show and Lena Dunham, but there’s something stopping me. Further inspection will be needed.

/Film has thoughts from Brave producer Katherine Sarafian about the director controversy, among other things. They still don’t really care if you didn’t like Cars 2.

Here’s the most interesting thing you’ll read today: ending mass atrocities: five-and-a-half lessons from Jeff Winger, in which the world of Community teaches us lessons about conflict resolution and solutions to major international crisis management. See, that show is far smarter than it deserves to be.

We close tonight with a little movie quiz, courtesy of a gent named Evan Seitz. In the third episode of his series of movie quizzes, Seitz presents a series of animations and colors from popular movies. How many of these movies can you name? Feel free to lay down some answers in the comment section.
