Why Watch? There’s no doubt that Oru Kutty Chodyam (A Little Question) is a bit sweet in its delivery. This charming short film is covered in syrup, but the combination of an adorable child demanding his parents make him a baby followed by his determined quest is enough to melt away some cynicism. The young boy is getting picked on because he’s the littlest, and a baby would definitely solve that problem. Since his family won’t tell him how they get made, he seeks out help from the temple, the older boys and a pre-pubescent gangster wannabe. But is the price (his Pokemon collection) too high to pay? His little question turns out to be big. It’s bright and colorful, and even if there’s only a small amount of inventiveness here, the story’s earnestness (and the celebration of kid logic) is refreshing enough to produce a smile. Be sure to turn on the captions, and enjoy this warm, silly tale with a its pop-rocking score. What will it cost you? Only 23 minutes. Skip work. Watch more short films.
